LAIMA CERAMICS
Laima Ceramics is a contemporary Latvian ceramics studio and design brand creating handcrafted porcelain and stoneware tableware and international creative courses. The studio is rooted in mindful making, material exploration, and quiet beauty — bringing functional objects and heartfelt experiences into everyday life.
Founded in 2013 by designer-maker Laima Piliņa (born Grigone), the studio grew from Laima’s Contemporary Craft training in the United Kingdom and apprenticeship with master potter in Latvia into a practice that blends craftsmanship, design and art.
Laima Ceramics is recognised both locally and internationally for its handcrafted tableware and design objects — objects that are made to be lived with, loved, and used daily. These works are in homes, collections, and restaurants in Latvia and around the world, sold in over 100 retail locations across Europe, the United States, and beyond.
NYX & IRIS
We are a small family business in the center of Zasa. We offer riding services, accommodation, room rental and mobile cafe services.
But why such a strange name?
Nyx is the Greek goddess of the night. In Greek mythology, she was the daughter of Chaos, one of the first beings, very powerful and the mother of many other gods. But Iris is the Greek goddess of the rainbow as well as the messenger of the gods. Iris is also the name of our grandmother.
Just as these goddesses are very different from each other, the Nyx & Iris sister managers are very different. Anna takes care of our beloved horses, leads rides and training. She is very determined, passionate, kind and helpful. She has worked with horses for more than 20 years both in Latvia and the UK. Horses have always been her passion, ever since she first climbed onto the back of Rigoletto in Riga. Meanwhile, Laura takes care of the house, cleans it and welcomes clients to our accommodations. She is very hardworking, knowledgeable and pays attention to details. She likes to bake cakes but doesn’t like to eat them herself, which is very useful when you have to treat guests.
